Counselor in Training Camp
The Counselor in Training program at Camp Kulaqua is designed to offer qualified young people an opportunity to prepare for leadership positions such as: leading worships with children, creating curriculums for leading activities, and assisting as a summer camp counselor. Emphasis is placed upon developing leadership skills, sensitivity to children, and program skills.
To be a Counselor in Training:
-Campers must be at least 17 years old at the time of participation. If you are 15-16 years old you may attend camp as a “regular“ camper in Teen Camp.
-Campers must possess a genuine interest in the camping/youth development field, and in working with younger campers, and be willing to commit the required energy, enthusiasm, and cooperation in all aspects of the training and hands-on portions of the program.
-A positive and cooperative attitude for the camp.
-Please understand that this camp is a training atmosphere and does NOT guarantee employment at summer camp, but it will help a camper understand what being a staff member entails.
Available certifications to be earned at Counselor in Training:
>Professional CPR
>First Aid & Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
>Safe Food Service Cert
